Hot on the heels of our return from Detroit, was the opening of
Core Sample Segments. Unfortunately we missed the opening but did manage to see this show of wonderful large scale, multiple layered woodcut prints by Guelph artist, Alison Judd at the Rotunda Gallery in Kitchener City Hall. This is the last week to see these beautiful pieces as the show is over on the 31st. I love the carved and exaggerated woodgrain that Alison used for her printing blocks and which conjures up the running lines of tapestry and other textile works for me. You can find out more about Alison and some of the projects that she is working on here.
And because my snapshots are just to give you an idea and really not very good photography, you should check out an excellent depiction of one of Alison's prints from this series here on Printeresting.
Next show at Rotunda Gallery is Unreal Estate by Michelle Purchase, for the month of November with a reception on Wednesday, November 12, 5-7pm.That is two printmaking shows in a row!
